Cancer Screening

Cancer screenings are vital in the early detection and prevention of cancer.

At Covenant Medical Hub, our doctors are dedicated to providing comprehensive cancer screening services to our patients to detect and diagnose cancer at an early stage. We take a comprehensive approach, taking into account your age, family history, and other risk factors to determine the most appropriate screening tests for you.

Early detection and treatment of cancer greatly increase the chances of successful treatment and recovery, which is why we recommend regular screening and discussing any concerns.

We offer a variety of cancer screening services for different types of cancer, including:

Bowel Cancer Screening – we offer fecal occult blood tests (FOBT) normally being every two years for men & women from 50 to 74 years and refer you for colonoscopies to detect colorectal cancer if deemed appropriate.

Breast Cancer Screening – we provide referrals for mammograms, breast ultrasounds, and breast MRIs to detect breast cancer in its early stages normally being every five years for women 50 to 74 years.

Cervical Cancer Screening – we encourage regular cervical screening tests (CST), this has replaced the previous ‘pap smear’ from every 2 years to now being every five years for women 25 to 74 years. All women who have ever been sexually active in their lifetimes need to have regular cervical screening, even if they are no longer sexually active. This test involves taking a small sample of cells from the cervix to be tested for cell changes and a swab to check for human papillomavirus, which can lead to cell changes in the cervix in the future. While a little uncomfortable, it is a quick and simple test that allows for the detection of cervical cancer which can then be treated.

Skin Cancer Checks – skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in Australia, and early detection is critical for successful treatment. Our expert healthcare professionals provide high-quality care in screening, diagnosing, and treating skin cancer.

Our skin cancer checks are comprehensive examinations to identify suspicious moles or lesions. We use the latest techniques to carefully examine your skin, identify any potential issues, and provide you with personalised recommendations to keep your skin healthy.

Skin cancers are frequently found on the head, face, neck, back, and upper limbs (areas with the most exposure to the sun) but can appear on any part of the body. We recommend regular skin checks to monitor for changes and to catch any potential skin cancers early on.
